General Manager

STASH Cannabis Co. isn’t just another dispensary opening its doors — we’re building the brand and culture we’ve always dreamed of: a staff that feels like family and relationships with customers that go beyond the transaction. We’re planting our flag at 1470 Rockville Pike, and we need a General Manager to lead the team. As the most senior leader on-site, the team, the numbers, the compliance posture, the customer experience, and the vibe all roll up to you.

What you’ll own

Lead the team

  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and onboard budtenders, leads, and support staff who fit the STASH culture.
  • Develop and run training on product knowledge, compliance, POS, customer service, and safety.
  • Run performance reviews, coach in real time, deliver corrective action, and make termination decisions when needed.
  • Build a workplace culture that is accountable, inclusive, and high-energy.
  • Own staff scheduling, labor cost, and time-and-attendance.

Keep us compliant

  • Maintain full compliance with all Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) rules and applicable state and local laws.
  • Host and manage MCA site visits and inspections — calm, prepared, and paperwork-ready.
  • Submit and manage cannabis agent badge approval requests for every team member.
  • Keep inventory reconciled across METRC and POS, and continuously improve SOPs.
  • Enforce advertising, labeling, age-verification, and purchase-limit requirements without exception.

Run the business

  • Prepare and submit financial reporting — daily sales, deposits, variance reports, and P&L review.
  • Own the location’s budget, labor cost, and expense controls.
  • Oversee cash handling, drops, deposits, and reconciliation.
  • Manage procurement end-to-end: vendor selection, ordering, POs, and invoice reconciliation with cultivators, processors, and suppliers.
  • Build vendor relationships across security, POS, payment processing, and IT.
  • Track the KPIs that matter: sales per hour, average basket, conversion, return rate, and margin.

Drive the customer experience

  • Populate and maintain the menu across POS and online platforms.
  • Create and run daily deals, promotions, and seasonal campaigns that actually bring people in.
  • Launch and manage the loyalty program — enrollment, redemption, reporting, and growth.
  • Set the bar for service and personally own escalated issues.
  • Represent STASH in the community — build local relationships and help us become a Rockville staple.

Keep the store safe

  • Maintain a safe environment for staff, customers, and product.
  • Manage security vendors — alarms, video surveillance, and access controls.
  • Build and enforce loss-prevention procedures.
  • Ensure OSHA workplace safety and ADA accessibility compliance.

What you bring

  • 3+ years of management in retail, hospitality, or a regulated industry — cannabis retail strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience in the Maryland cannabis program with current, working knowledge of MCA regulations.
  • 21 or older, eligible to obtain and maintain a Maryland cannabis agent ID, and able to pass a background check (a condition of employment).
  • A track record of hiring, training, and developing teams that perform.
  • Strong financial acumen — P&L, budgets, reporting, and reconciliation don’t intimidate you.
  • Sharp written and verbal communication, and comfort with POS, inventory, and standard office software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to work a register.

Bonus points

  • Experience with SWEED POS — a significant advantage.
  • Experience with METRC seed-to-sale tracking.
  • Prior dispensary launch or new-store opening experience.
  • Existing relationships with Maryland cultivators, processors, and ancillary vendors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, retail management, or a related field.

Physical requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and move throughout the dispensary during shifts.
